Middle Plantation Neighborhood Events

Middle Plantation is a very active neighborhood with a great sense of community. In year’s past, we hosted an Easter Egg Hunt, 4th of July Parade, Halloween Parade, Fall Block Party, as well as a Neighborhood Yard sale. We also host civic league meetings/socials. We’ve continued to find ways to have fun in the time of COVID-19 and have offered a number of drive-by activities and treat pick-ups, as well as neighborhood scavenger hunts. So many reasons our residents love to call this neighborhood home!

All of these events are possible thanks to the volunteer time of our civil league members, and we are in need of new volunteers for the 2022 calendar year! If you’d like to be an event chair or part of a specific event planning committee, click here to send us an email.

Look at the fun we had in 2020:

  • February 5: Civic League Meeting
It was standing room only at our first MPCL meeting of 2020. A special thanks to Councilman Jim Wood for joining us and providing a great update on City happenings, including budget, economic development and more. Plus! Officer Cade attended to talk crime, safety and speeding. It was a great discussion. And in case you didn’t know, it was also the last official meeting for Claudia Hudgens as our President. Though she’ll be staying on the board, after five amazing years of leadership, she is passing the torch to Hillary Wilson. Thank you, Claudia for all you’ve done for Middle Plantation!
  • March 29: Easter Egg Hunt
Sadly we cancelled this event, but we so appreciated our neighbors for stepping up to help arrange a virtual Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt, as well as a visit from the Easter Bunny.
  • July 4: Parade & Party
Our local station firetruck led participants on our first (hopefully annual) Fourth of July Parade! It was such a special day and we are thrilled so many were able to come out and socially distance cheer in honor of our Nation’s birthday.
  • September 12: A Visit from The Chilly Mermaid
We hope you were able to satisfy your sweet tooth with a free cup of gelato for MPCL members!
  • September 15: Virtual Civic League Zoom Meeting
Check your email to join our Zoom membership meeting.
  • October: Halloween Scavenger Hunt
We had lots of fun hunting for pumpkins! Thank you to all of the neighbors who participated..
  • December: Holiday Gift Bags

A Look Back at Highlights from 2019

Beer & BBQ
Our last Civic League meeting of the year will be in November. With the theme of “Beer & BBQ,” it’ll be a fun pot-luck and chance to catch up with neighbors on all the latest happenings. Check your email for the invite and sign-up list!!

Halloween Party & Parade
We had a great time at our Annual Halloween Party & Parade on October 27th. Thanks to all our volunteers and hooray for a fun event with some fabulous costumes! If you have any suggestions for new games or crafts to incorporate next year… or ways to make it just as fun for the grown-ups, let us know!

Block Party Time!
Thanks also to everyone who joined us for our Annual Middle Plantation Civic League Block Party on September 8, 2019. There was delicious food, fun activities for the kids, and ice cream for all! Here are a few pictures from our event!

Welcome Home to Middle Plantation!

Middle Plantation is a Little Neck subdivision located in the heart of Virginia Beach surrounded by Lynnhaven Bay. Our neighborhood streets are lined with mature pine and oak trees.

The original Middle Plantation, established in 1633, is the town that later became Williamsburg in 1699. It was the capital city of the Virginia Colony. At that time, homes served as the hub of most community activity. The pineapple graced dining room tables and became the symbol to express a sense of welcome, good cheer and warmth inherent in gracious home gatherings.

Our Middle Plantation Civic League welcomes you to our neighborhood. Welcome home!
