Upper Hastings WayWelcome to Middle Plantation!

SAFETY ALERT!  Keep your cars parked outside LOCKED!  Even though Virginia Beach's Finest have made an arrest in the case, that doesn't mean the threat has forever gone away.  Be prudent.  Be safe.  LOCK YOUR CARS!

SAFETY ALERT 2!  You may be aware of the arson related car fires in Bishopsgate & Little Neck Estates.  Investigations continue while the perps wander our streets.  Be alert!

SAVE THE DATE!  Saturday August 7.  Sunset 7.  The Lynnhaven River Race....sponsored by the Tidewater Striders and supported by LNSRC, the MPCL Board, and other worthy organizations such as The Lynnhaven River Now.  It will begin at LNSRC, meander through Middle Plantation, and return to the Club for a post-race soiree.  The organizers are expecting hundreds (as in 300-500) of runners.  Walkers are invited too, we're told.  Contact Gerard Golden at  647-3423 for more information.

Welcome to Middle Plantation! Middle Plantation is a Little Neck subdivision located in the heart of Virginia Beach surrounded by the Lynnhaven Bay. The neighborhood streets are lined with mature pines and oaks and the school district is one of the best in the state.

The Middle Plantation Civic League is in existence to make our community one of the most desirable places to live in Virginia Beach! We publish a quarterly newsletter and a neighborhood directory to help us get to know our neighbors.  Our neighborhood has great social activities that offer something for everyone. Some of the events include the Children's Egg Hunt, Halloween Parade and the Annual Roving Dinner put on by the Women's Club. These events are a great way for everyone to meet their neighbors and to make new friends.

Click here for LITTLE NECK WEATHER!   Actually over on Watersedge Drive, but close enough!

Around the corner...

The SUMMER HEAT has been brutal and everyone's yard and landscaping are taking hits.  Please try to keep whatever green - or brown - stuff growing in your yards trimmed neatly.  Keeping Middle Plantation recognized as one of the best neighborhoods in VB is important and curb appeal contributes mightily to that.  With this in mind, please try to pay attention to the exterior of your homes and keep the trim painted, the gutters cleaned out (no baby trees growing there), the bushes under control, and the siding clean.

Volunteers are needed for all Committees!!  Contact Anthony Vittone to help.

MPCL WOMENS CLUB Please remember to sign up for various activities if you haven't done so already:
Casual Dining, TGIF/Weekend Socials, Bunko, Roving Dinner, Book Club or Bridge Club.
Annual dues are $25.
If you would like to join the Womens Club for these events and meet your neighbors, call Ginger Wootton at 486-5136 for details.

What's New...

MPCL Website Update

The MP website is constantly being updated and tweaked.  We would appreciate your feedback and comments.  Please take a few minutes and peruse the site.  We would really like your suggestions for additions, enhancements, improvements, and corrections.  An email to FEEDBACK is all you have to do.  Thanks in advance.

MP Deed and Covenant Restrictions

Middle Plantation has Deeds and Covenants which outline the do's and don'ts of what you can and what you can't store on or do to your property.  Please take a few minutes to look over these guidelines to ensure your compliance.  Your neighbors and the Civic League will appreciate it.  These Deeds and Covenants can be found in the front of the current Directory.  Remember that these rules were part of what you agreed to at the closing of your house with your lawyer.

Violation Letter Update & Information

A new violation letter has been adopted by the Board of MPCL.  Anyone in violation of the restrictions of the Deeds and Covenants of Middle Plantation will receive this letter as a warning.  You will then have 2 weeks to correct the situation.  If the situation has not been rectified, you will receive a registered letter from the Middle Plantation Civic League attorney.  I encourage everyone to familiarize themselves with the restrictions for Middle Plantation.  A copy of these regulations can be found n the front of the Middle Plantation Directory.  In addition to keeping the aesthetic beauty of our neighborhood intact, you will also be a good neighbor to those around you.

Keep your yards looking good!

SUMMER is here (well not until June 21, technically) but grass and shrubs are growing like weeds, which are growing too.  So please keep your yards trimmed.  If your neighbor is ignoring his/hers, please politely suggest that they help maintain our neighborhood standards.  Curb appeal is worth millions!

News You Can Use...

2010 DUES:  Get Your Dues In and Be A Member!

You can still join the Middle Plantation Civic League by simply sending your $45.00 to 936 Royal Oak Close.  It's never too late to become an active member receiving all the benefits to which you're entitled.

These funds are used to pay for upkeep of the neighborhood entrances, children & adult social activities, and enforcement of the Deeds and Restrictions for MP.  These dues also allow you to be a voting member in the neighborhood and to be present at all Civic League functions.  We will also respond to your emails and phone calls.  Please be a part of our neighborhood community and its governance.  It's only 12.3 cents per day!  You CAN afford that!  You CANNOT afford not to.

Oh, yes, and you get a DIRECTORY too.

So write a check for $45.00 made out to MPCL, and mail it to MPCL, 936 Royal Oak Close, Va Beach VA 23452.

Neighborhood Reminders...

Yard Debris Bags  With  storm debris, nor'easter residue, and trimming bushes and lawns, this again can become an issue.  Yard debris waste pickup (in clear plastic bags) is managed by the City.  There are weight & quantity restrictions.  This is not covered in our recorded restrictions and MPCL cannot act on any violations to the city's policy.  We will ask that you respect your neighbors by placing the bags out at the appropriate time and in the appropriate quantities.

Pet Clean Up  Residents must clean up after their pets.  The handy plastic bags that the Virginian Pilot and Wall Street Journal arrive in are excellent receptacles for your use.....and they're free with your subscription!

Streetlights.  Please ensure that your streetlights are working properly.  If not, get the serial number from the post and contact Dominion Power.

SLOW down! Please remember we have lots of kids in our community.  At the November MPCL meeting, a representative from the VBPD spoke with us about this problem and offered his suggestions on "Traffic Calming" and other alternatives.  So WATCH YOUR SPEED!  When you least suspect it, radar may find YOU!

Thanks for doing your part to help make our neighborhood great!

Notice Vandalism can happen anywhere, any time. If you see anything or anyone suspicious - please call the Virginia Beach Police dept immediately at 757-385-5000.  There has been a rash of thefts from UNLOCKED CARS generally between 2am - 4am according to our VBPD liaison.  One technique is to use a garage door opener FROM THE UNLOCKED CAR to gain access to the garage (and potentially the house's interior) and then steal whatever they find.

KEEP YOUR CARS PARKED OUTSIDE LOCKED!!!!  They're an easy mark for bored kids or impecunious adults.
